Intellectual Imperialism and the Compatible Left - Book Launch

  • CUNY, New York, NY, United States 25 Broadway Amphitheater, 7th Floor New York, NY 10004 United States (map)

Join us for an evening of discussion at CUNY as part of the “The Compatible Postmodern Left vs. Marxism: A Book Tour.”

We’ll explore how postmodern theory has shaped the contemporary left, often in ways that blunt its revolutionary edge and accommodate imperial power.

The discussion will center on two recently published books:

Requiem for French Theory by Aymeric Monville and Gabriel Rockhill, which interrogates the legacy of French Theory and its effects on radical theory and practice.

The Poverty of Left Nietzscheanism by Aymeric Monville, which offers a Marxist reckoning with Nietzsche’s influence on left thought.

Both books will be available for sale and signing:

Together, these works engage with some of the most pressing questions of our time: the rise of fascism, the struggle for socialism in the 21st century, and the ways in which intellectual currents can either sharpen or soften the blade of radical politics.

Jennifer Ponce de León
Gabriel Rockhill
